Vegan Shepherd’s Pie recipe

Shepherd’s pie (made with minced lamb or mutton) or cottage pie (made with minced beef) is a meat pie with a crust of mashed potato, not pastry.

The dish can vary widely within its basic definition, whether as a home recipe or on a restaurant menu. The defining ingredients are ground meat (beef for cottage pie) mixed with vegetables, and topped with potatoes. The meat and vegetable filling may include chopped onion, and may be cooked in gravy, tomato sauce or tomato paste. Some recipes have grated cheese on the mashed potatoes, which in Britain would approach the Cumberland pie variant. [Via: wikipedia]
