The doctrine of Lucifer, or Luciferianism, is a belief system inspired by Gnosticism, based various religions and myths associated with Venus, the morning star, traditionally known as Lucifer. Lucifer was introduced into translations of the Bible by a bishop named Jerome, who translated what is known as the Latin Vulgate. Lucifer literally means “Bearer of Light.”
